The Ming & I
Libretto by Robert Feng, Composed by Ben Yee-Paulson
A Micro-Opera.

Jason Chen is a student visiting his local museum to write a report on “the artwork of your heritage” - in his case an ornate Ming Dynasty vase. As Elizabeth the museum guide leads him to the vase, the ghost of Jason’s royal ancestor (Emperor Wén) appears before him to try to convince his descendant to steal the vase, his long-lost family heirloom.

This opera was commissioned by Boston Opera Collective for their Opera Bites Program (2026)
